Phonics worked until educators decided to fix what wasn't broken. Same with Math when it became write a paragraph on how you found the answer 😂

I’m sorry but learning isn’t always fun. Sometimes you have to tough it out and actually put in the work. My baby will learn phonics because in the real world there won’t be pictures but you could sound it out.

phonics isnt something new its how they use to teach kids how to read (its how I learned to read back in the early 80s when i was in kindergarten and 1st grade). when they did away with phonics they did away with one of the most instrumental tools to teach kids how to read and understand the words as they read. honestly every school that threw phonics out should be held responsible for robbing children of a real education.

My parents taught me to read. I will teach my child to read. Parents have stopped reading to their kids and encouraging reading at home. Parents are part of the problem.

Sight Words and “Picture Power” showed fast results in young kids. The problem that they didn’t think about with this method is books get less and less pictures. How does a child use the picture as a clue when there are no pictures?

Why is this a liberal problem? Haha! I mean Canada is SUPER liberal and our children learn phonics. I think the problem is underfunded schools, lack of teachers and assistance to manage large class sizes. Oh and parents being worked to the bone and unable to keep the learning up at home. Just my opinion tho
