For tip 1, ask your hospital if this is how it works. I live somewhere with a huge hospital system. My OB isn’t going to deliver my baby most likely. All of the local OBs rotate hospital shifts, but they also have hospitalists. None of my previous babies were delivered by my OB or even one from my practice.

I always called my doctor before heading in and L&D. On my fourth baby my midwife pulled up and was waiting for me just for me to roll through on a stretcher with my baby in my arms 😅 Accidental home births are scary. She probably should have just stopped at my house first 🫠

I had to have an anesthesia consult a couple weeks ago because of pregnancy complications and my doctor wanted to know what the anesthesiologist recommended. During my consult he got 4 calls about needing to place epidurals, as well as 2 about c sections that were getting scheduled within the next few hours. I felt so bad for that guy! Request your epidural early! Per the anesthesiologist I have to have my epidural as soon as I’m admitted, so I’m already on the list thankfully.
