I worked 1 to 1 with dementia patients WITH covid during the pandemic and didn't get covid. In my first year of teaching high school, 2022, I got covid in the first month from the kids. I was so sick I was out for a week!

And no offense, but Half the time, teachers call in sick for our Mental Health Day. They just need a day away from it all for their own mental health. but most of the time, it's because i've caught something from somebody at the school

Flu is at least 5 days out and COVID is another 5 days out. People are sending sick kids to school every day, so of course teachers will get sick. If my kids teacher needs a day off, above and beyond the days they’re sick, then they need it off. Any other profession gets time off.

I sister is currently teaching at a private school in Korea where she works with the kids 8-5pm and is only allowed 1 sick day a year. She currently has a concussion while trying to work with kindergarteners

It’s literally a job. If my position should have paid time off. There’s should be PTO the same way for teachers. Anyone that argues otherwise is a bad actor.

I literally had to take a week last week because I had to go to the ER and was in the hospital! One Blood transfusion and endoscopy later, I finally got discharged. Am I not allowed to take care of my own health? According to that article, apparently not.

Massachusetts DESE is atrocious at analyzing data. They said we were only at 75% compliance with special Ed services in my building. They only factored time with a para… they failed to consider when a SE teacher was in the room co-teaching… my boss was FURIOUS.
