@morganlee_talent: Let me tell you a little story… so the general collective opinion was that 2020 sucked, but yall I nearly croaked from something else entirely. Let’s set the scene; it’s 2020, covid was just starting to spread, whispers and rumors flying, then the schools shut down. And while everyone was prepping for a pandemic, my family was bracing for surgery. I was just told I have a rare form of #spinabifida #lipomeningocele, a mix of the forms occulta and myelomeningocele. To be exact, I have two tumors intertwined through spinal sac, blood vessels, meninges, and spinal cord in the thoracic spine. This was already harsh news, but to receive it in the middle of a pandemic, man was I stressed. Anyways fast forward to April 2020, I had just woken from my surgery, completely alone, as Covid regulations stated I couldn’t have any visitors. My doctor comes in shortly after and informed me that not only had they only completed 75% of the detethering surgery, they had also lost the nerve response in electrocmonitoring system and they were unsure I would walk again. They indicated my blood pressure spiked and heart rate dropped and that I nearly passed. The doctor had to stop after so many issues, leaving my spine still tethered, with the tumor, bone and spinal cord. I finally told the doctor “just get me wheelchair ready and send me home, I got this”. I recovered relatively well, besides missing my family and not being able to do my own hair. So I went to a rehab for a short period and made my goal to be home as soon as possible, and to be able to brush my hair again. I was home by July 2020, and back on my feet using a cane in August. Present me uses a cane when needed, struts on runways, and continues to heal. Surgery will be needed again eventually but for now, I just enjoy life. #adaptive #disability #invisibledisabilities
