People don’t understand that a few deficiencies can have a snowball effect on your dogs health and wellness and by the time they are showing signs it can be months to fix the damage.

Right off the bat, nobody should share their recipe for dog food and reccomend it to other people. My dog eats home made, it was formulated by his vet for him. All the specific measurements and supplements have been chosen for him after blood work, knowing his history with digestive issues, his activity level, the environment he’s in. And we do check ups and tweak tiny aspects of the diet if anything changes (season, illness, sport events, travel) there’s no homemade diet that works for every dog. It’s too easy to accidentally make it unbalanced.

I am a human and I rarely ever eat a fully balanced meal. It’s shocking to me that the vet industry still promotes highly processed food. The processing of the kibble is worse than an unbalanced fresh food diet.

I only made my dog's food when she was 18 and refusing anything but chicken and rice. We pretty much just let her have whatever she wanted for her last year.

I believe i dont have the knowledge or skills to make a perfect meal so I just give hydrated kibbles with home made topper. I'm gonna leave the important part to the professionals.

This is also why it’s not a bad thing that pet foods have synthetic vitamins that you can’t pronounce. It’s really damn hard to get all of them in there and synthetic vitamins help balance everything out in the correct amounts needed.

The litter my puppy came from all a play date an the 2 puppies who were being fed homemade food looked emaciated and malnourished they looked like a puppy and all the other littermates were about 65-90 lbs it was actually disturbing

I’ll never do this tbh it’s way too much unnecessary work. Especially considering there are so many complete and balanced fresh raw foods and things like freeze dried/dehydrated whole meals or the kind you add fresh meat too. Lately I’ve been feeding instinct’s frozen raw/fresh raw with a high quality kibble. Their coats are SO shiny. I also like the honest kitchen’s dehydrated whole meals or base mix + fresh meat.
