@krugerconstruction: Found some rusty steel studs from an ongoing leak at this customers home • We couldn’t just leave them, could change all the studs and track, instead we spliced in some new pieces • Some will use a piece of track to attach the new new and old but we put a bend in the stud using the broom angle with the stud in the track • It fits nicely into the new stud and not to bad into the old • Running that New @Makita Tools USA 18v DTD173Z, the ring light on the end is a great addition • Also it’s odd in our area to find steel studs in a home, this was obviously a no permit kind of basement develop, the exterior walls didn’t have vapor barrier . . . #tools #construction #makita #makitatools #makitapartner
As a union carpenter framer and a contractor used a longer splice or sister a stud over 18” and u don’t use a broom to bend the stud makes it weaker

Ahhhh! Your supposed use piece of track with a longer splice to to keep the structural integrity of the stud especially at the bottom

So just repeat the problem don't improve it so it doesn't rust again. Always out for the money not quality.

Unnecessary, the studs were fine only a little rust at the bottom where it met the track. I would have shot pieces of 2x2 L metal to wall and pinned to stud at 1’ and 5’ up. If replacing bottom track at least put down sill seal.

Ya lo puedes desmontar. No se pueden atornillar montantes y canal. Totalmente prohibido, la gente no entiende que estos sistemas deben permitir el movimiento para evitar grietas, lo mismo con el techo, estoy cansado de ver mm entre TC y clip

I’ve always hated these studs. They’re weak, flimsy and often give a wall a springy effect. 2x4 all day long
