honestly, what hurts me wasn’t ace’s death, it was everything that came after. the promises he couldn’t fulfill anymore, the people he left behind, and most of all, luffy. ace dying right in front of him is something that will stay engraved in his mind forever. that kind of pain doesn’t go away, even if he never talks about it. that’s why i’m so happy seeing him slowly heal from those nightmares he never shares with anyone. you can tell how much he carried on his own, so watching him slowly move forward, even if it still hurts, just means so much.
