they blamed the tires but the real issue was suspension design and high center of gravity= rollovers, the deadly part is Ford designed the roof structure so weak, in a rollover it would crush the occupants to death. same situation with the ford bronco 2.

It was a combo of both the tires and the Explorer. The tires would blow out and the Explorer had a tin can as a roof. The roof was extremely weak and would crush passengers when it rolled over, look into it. I believe there’s a 60 minutes episode on the weak Explorer roofs.
