@lilaviie: Replying to @IfUrYTkeys We all have our own experiences, but let’s not forget the history of solidarity between our communities. It may feel like we’re always blaming or fighting each other, but that division was created decades ago. We’ve been pushed apart on purpose. History built the divide and the only way forward is choosing not to repeat it. We have to stand together 🥲 #asian #blackamerican #History #fypツ

There is no Asian hate in the black community. Especially Gen X, we grew up watching martial arts films and EVERY black person were Bruce Lee fans and that love and respect passed down to Jacky chan Jet li and a heard of other Asian artist. We've NEVER had problems with them, They just had problems with us.

Some of these comments make me chuckle a bit just cuz… Martial arts film and watching anime doesn’t automatically equate to love for Asian ppl. Idolizing Bruce Lee doesn’t either. Same with liking rap music, soul food, idolizing Beyoncé, etc. doesn’t automatically equate to love for black ppl. There are many many ppl who love other ppls cultural byproducts but do not extend that same love to the people themselves. Many anime watchers that turn around and say racist things to and about Asian ppl. I’ve met so many of them.

I have never heard any blk parents tell their kids not to befriend, hangout, or marry Asians. The same may not be true for Asian parents.

We’ve always rocked with y’all, but y’all don’t really rock with us like that. I lived in Korea for a couple years, and a lot of Koreans don’t mess with us at all. Same thing in Japan

propaganda is definitely the US most effective weapon presently. these things are imperative to speak about to bring us closer together but these conversations won’t really be had unless enforced like maybe a sociology class or something. most people aren’t going to seek out this type of information to even start the conversation which is frustrating but we gotta keep trying always good to see people interested in the uniting of POC

The tension was at its height during the 90s around the Rodney King beatings, the murder of Latasha Harlins ( who was killed by 49 year Korean store owner and got off with a $500 fine) and everything she dated in this video. This was highlighted in a whole lot of 2Pacs songs i. Keep ya head Up and Ice Cube “Black Korea”… This info is for those who don’t know… I’m glad you brought this to light to show how tensions can tease and some relationships do heal and improve over time.

Black & Asian solidarity goes way back in so many historical examples. It's this powerful tie of solidarity those in power continues to divide us. Each community needs to reckon with, anti-blackness, minority myth, and anti-Asian bigotry. There's leagues of nuance in all of it, but our communities need to heal and form coalitions instead of allowing yt supremacy break us apart.

Let’s not forget what the media did in 92…. We still live in a post LA riots world that neither Asian (yes I know it was Black ppl and Koreans specifically) or Black folks have really recovered from communally that was a turning point
