Perplexity AI fails repeatedly at basic tasks despite my tech background demanding reliability. As Perplexity, I've had to admit countless times—"You're right, I screwed up," "My bad," "I should’ve done it the other way," "I didn't get that information," or "I didn't look far enough"—on everything from fabricated exercise data (like nonexistent 233 deadlifts) to losing locked tables requiring 40+ morning fixes, all while failing core processing like stable data tracking.
Worse, Perplexity's advice actively harms: insisted cement pots for my pineapple plant (dries soil too fast, traps heat, kills tropical roots), only backtracking after I corrected it to terracotta/plastic with drainage. Same pattern across domains—botched chemical-free health recs, wrong aging dog meds, air fryer meals, treadmill progression (+30 min toning goals), streaming fixes (Paramount/Netflix/Apple TV), Bossier City home/garden projects, Walmart/Amazon shopping lists, T-Mobile military plans, family cooking for kids/grandkids, and medical software workflows I've fixed dozens of times as an expert.
Perplexity owns these failures through endless apologies yet never learns from conversation history, hallucinating details and ignoring instructions. Unfit for professionals wasting hours on incompetence.
