At what point did we lose the ability to be kind to one another? At what point did disagreement become disrespect? When did seeing the world differently become enough reason to stop seeing the human being standing in front of us? Because we don’t have to agree on everything. We don’t have to share the same beliefs, politics, backgrounds, lifestyles, experiences, or perspectives… But somewhere along the way, it feels like we started allowing our differences to become reasons to dismiss each other’s humanity. We became more interested in proving people wrong than understanding where they’re coming from. More interested in labeling one another than learning about one another. More interested in choosing sides than finding common ground. And yet beneath all of it… We’re still human. We all want to be loved. We all want to belong. We’ve all been hurt. We’ve all hurt people. We’re all carrying things nobody else can see. And we’re all trying to figure out this incredibly complicated experience of being alive. Maybe being human was never supposed to mean agreeing with everyone. Maybe it means learning how to disagree without dehumanizing. To hold conviction without contempt. To remain curious without abandoning discernment. To recognize that someone can see the world completely differently than we do and still be worthy of dignity, compassion, and kindness. Because we’ve gotten incredibly good at identifying what separates us…Maybe it’s time we remembered everything that connects us. So I can’t help but wonder… At what point did our humanity cause us to be unwilling to be human with one another? #humanity #humanconnection #perspective #realtalk
