hey mama, this is heartbreaking to say but I do want to say I am an RN and though I only work with adults I know that at the hospital a seizure that last longer than five minutes is considered critical because it can cause brain damage. I’m not sure if it’s the same in children, but this is something that you should bring up to the doctor when you get to the ER or your pediatrician.

my son has epilepsy, he was on Kepra and he kept having seizures and his medicine was changed to Lamotragine, and has not had one in 2 years.. prayers for your baby😞

A lot of people, including babies, need adjunct (paired) meds if their regimen is not working. Keppra is the first line for pediatric seizures. Please restart the keppra and talk to the docs about other options or adjuncts. It could save her life. It may not prevent all seizures, but it can decrease the severity. The vomiting is scary because she could aspirate.

My daughter is 10 and she takes levetiracetam it’s a generic brand.& she hasn’t the nose spray she hasn’t had a seizure in 2yrs.. sending prayers for the poor baby 💕

I just got a patient in my ER who started having seizures again because her mom thought she didn’t need Keppra anymore. My 7yr old have been on it for a year and she’s had no seizures.

Please ask about other options if you don’t want to do keppra. SUDEP is very real and unfortunately more common in those with uncontrolled epilepsy.

My 72 year old mother was put on Kepra post Brain cancer diagnosis for seizures. It turned her into an aggressive, angry, mean monster (side affects of Kepra) we took her off of it. It was a legit nightmare!

My baby boy will be 3 next month. His episodes started when he was 3 months old. They misdiagnosed him with sleep apnea but I kept telling them it keeps happening even when he isn’t sleeping. As he got bigger i realized it was seizures. The his neurologist recently started him on that same medication but i stopped giving it to him because it made his seizures happen everyday. We are still going back and forth to find something that works. I know your struggle mama.
