Many colorblind people have all the normal receptor cells, just their sensitivity spectrum is altered. They can benefit from the filters, even though they're useless for other colorblind people.

I feel like, every pair of glasses I’ve ever worn made the world look different, so when I was gifted them, I felt like I let my wife (gift giver) down bc of course the world looked different, it always has every time I wore sunglasses. Idk, maybe my issue is that I just overthink and doubt everything 🤣

@Ceuros:what some people dont understand either is that you can have less or even damaged color cones. its not like one color is completely missing. like some other comments have said, all we need sometimes all we need is a filter to change things a bit. I can see red, but I see more green than red. its like looking through a slightly green tinted glass all the time, so a simple filter would help correct the off shading

So is it a public perception thing or are there ppl buying the glasses under the assumption it works like that, not told how it actually works, and then find out later? Cause if the ppl who use them have been told how they work there's no problem. But if not, maybe also in cases where they are bought for someone else and the wearer is not informed, then that's a problem.

I saw on a TV show that some women have an extra cone then men do. It's because we developed it to make sure she didn't pick stuff like poison berries. It was to help us detect plants that are different from each other. I am not sure if that true but it made sense at the time
