the germans arent even the ones at fault for starting the war, they just got punished the most because they were the biggest threat, austria went in on serbia, at which point russia threatened to step in, which caused germany to say if you get involved we will get involved, at which point the austrians pressured germany to get more involved which lead to germany issuing “the blank cheque” which was basically saying “we are all in on defending austria” which definitely caused escalation and then caused france (ally of russia) to get involved at which point germany made the insane decision to invade france through belgium (again escalating) which caused britain to get involved so whilst germany did their fair share of escalation, its austria and russia who started the war more than anyone else (other than the assassin i guess)

Do you believe the AI boom has widened the gap between the US and china once again? US is dominating the field and has added trillions in value to markets.

I am skeptical that WW3 can happen with any meaningful conscription. Gen Z and Millennials simply do not feel their interests are represented and will simply say no to being drafted

From the German perspective the only way to have won it was not to fight it at all. They would have become the dominant power in continental Europe through economic means alone without the war. A more interesting question is could the war have confined to a regional conflict between Serbia and Austria Hungary.

Looking back germany did manage to beat russia anyway. What if they took a defensive stance vs france, leaving belgium and the british out of it and focused on russia?

Was WW1 pretty much a folly brought by Kaiser Wilhelm to force his 2 cousin’s, Tzar Nicholas and King George V into war to show them he wasn’t a smaller man in manly terms?

It always interests me how much history often depends on the actions of a single or handful of people. Like what if the Kaiser had asked Austria to try for a peaceful resolution with Serbia over the assassination. Rather than the unconditional support for any Austrian decision.

Do you think that fall blau (german offensive in soviet union in 1942) could have been successful (in terms of capturing the oil fields in caucusus and permanentnly holding on stalingrad and southern volga all the way to astrakhan? And if so, would it permanently cripple USSR and their ability to conduct large mechanized offensives since they would lose 90% of their oil supply and also lot of important farmlands and food supply?

I'm surprised you didn't mention the battle of the frontiers as a close moment. it took a "miracle of the marne" to stop the Germans from taking Paris
