@bigplantdad: 9/9/25's selection for A Year In Plants is a Crested Whortleberry Cactus (Myrtillocactus geometrizans f. cristata) 📸 Meet the Crested Whortleberry Cactus — one of the wildest growth forms you’ll ever see in the cactus world. 🌵💚
This is Myrtillocactus geometrizans f. cristata, a naturally occurring mutation where the growing tip “fans out,” creating rippled, brain-coral folds instead of straight stems. These crested forms are highly sought after and totally unique — no two are ever alike. They love bright desert light, tolerate extreme heat, and reward you with sculptural, architectural growth. If you’re into weird and wonderful desert plants, this one’s a must-have. #PlantDad #Plants #Photography #FYP #PlantsOfTikTok
