Just add the chains. In Italy we did not have winter gear, but i leaves 2 hrs from the Alps and we put chains

Upstate here 🙋♀️I have all season tires & have survived the crazy winters. To me, they’re not that bad. Just don’t drive crazy!

You get studded snow tires if you don’t have awd or 4x4

Another upstateer chiming in to say I’ve never gotten snow tires, I just have all season tires. I think it’s important to know how far north you’re planning to come and when…lake placid backroads are gonna be different than lake george main roads you know?

Driven to VT and Lake Placid from New Jersey in a few big storms and made it up alright with new all seasons in my Subaru but got Michelin CrossClimates a couple years ago and they’re all I’ll buy now. Great in the snow and fine year round

I live in the city but travel upstate often, I have a Nissan rogue AWD and all season tires. I have not had an issue yet especially with how much NY salts and plows the roads.
