this story was also a foreshadowing of Gods only son dying for us. the same way isaac carried the wood he would be sacrificed on up the mountain, Jesus Christ carried the cross up and layed down his life for all humanity. imagine the anguish abraham was in knowing he was sending his own son to death then imagine how God felt.

I also think it's worth noting that Isaac was not a young boy. Isaac was a man. And Abraham was old and frail. Which is to say that Isaac was not overpowered or forced to do this.
