My daughter works those holidays by choice because she wants her co workers to be with their kids. Her work is also amazing as they work with her college schedule and time off she needs

she also deserves to have the day off. with or without kids. the parents should have time built up to put in time with the company so the employer can cover that day and time for the holidays if she Wanted that day off.the parent should have a plan in place ahead of time if she knows she has to work. i be been in both positions. i had kids when I was younger. my family and friends stepped in to . help out. I also was in the other position.a coworker took every holiday because he didn't want to work and the owner did to not wanting to work or pay over time pay but he would not close the business because he didn't care about anyone else but him and his family. after a while the ones that wind up working for everyone else gets tired of being treated like they don't matter for trying to do the right thing. I'm proud of her for stand up for hery

If you pay your dues at the job and it’s your turn to get it off. It’s not your responsibility to work on a holiday for a new employee or just because they are a parent. If that’s the case then manager should give that employee Friday off then so they can do on different day if that’s the case. Only if it’s okay. I’m usually okay with it as my family is flexible but not everyone gets that
