In case you didn't know, Rick Riordan used to read myths to his son as bedtime stories and when he ran out, he started writing his own in the form of the PJO series. That's why he's so knowledgeable about the myths!

I think you’re gonna like Riordan’s portrayal of Hades. He’s very clear about the fact that Hades is the god of THE DEAD, not the god of DEATH and isn’t inherently evil or really even antagonistic

I have read all the books in the entire series and the way Rick has portrayed Hades I loved it. I viewed as Hades acting as an older first born child

Maybe its an age thing, but I really don’t see Hades portrayed as the villain very much. Yeah he’s the bad guy in Disney Hercules, but other than that nothing comes to mind

If you enjoy podcasts I recommend The Newest Olympian. He reads the book for the first time as an adult alongside longtime fans and he doesn’t get spoiled but it’s fun! He did the same with Harry Potter.

Hades is probably my favorite of the Olympians. He’s CONSTANTLY a bad guy but all he wants to do is be left alone, do his paperwork, and love his wife. He wants NOTHING to do with his siblings drama.
