So I think Will’s powers are conditional. I am not sure if he innately has them. I think he has to be close to the hive mind and then can tap into Vecna’s abilities essentially. I think the duffers confirmed this in a spoiler interview but not positive!

Why would they show us the memory of Joyce in high school with Henry? There's a reason for everything and I think this means something. Could it be he cared for her and that's why he didn't kill her outright? Which speaks to some humanity still being there. Noah did say Vecna was the most misunderstood villain...

My question that I’m curious if it will get answered in volume 2- if were to assume that the powers come from getting mind flayer particles… why doesn’t Elle have influence from the mind flayer? It doesn’t seem like she’s affected like Will when the demagorgons are hurt right?
