@bysarby_: react to the stories live with me on Twitch: bysarby | AITA for warning my sister I would leave her off the wedding guest list if she doesn't stop pushing me to ask mom's husband to walk me down the aisle? #sarby
I'm getting 'new husband is an affair partner and potentially the sister's bio dad'

I’d just ask her “if step dad died tomorrow and mom remarried again in two years, would you forget him in favor of the 3rd husband? Since you don’t know why I’d pick ‘some dead guy’ so obviously you would just pretend like all your time spent with him was nothing right? Like what you’re trying to force on me?”

they tried to erase bio dad and they all resent OP for not allowing them to have the reality they wanted.

The younger sisters relationship with stepdad seems suss- also that gap between death and marriage is way too short.

The sister is insane. I'd end up putting hands on her.

as someone who lost my dad when I was 3, it def is traumatic still. I think that in combo with the stepdad trying to force a relationship could cause all this

Some facts cannot be changed. 1) they have a biological father who passed away. 2) nobody gets to dictate your relationship with someone else. Little sis can decide to accept stepdad as her dad and op can decide not to. 3) it is op’s wedding and she gets to decide who walks her down the aisle and who gets to attend as long as she’s ready for the consequences.

I'm getting this feeling that the sister is actually an affair child that the mom had with her second husband but played it off as being the second child from her first husband so nobody could suspect anything or maybe I'm reading too much into it but that's what I'm kind of getting from all of this

Wonder if the mom kinda made it sound like he abandoned them for dying, maybe she immediately told the children he was horrible for leaving and the sister internalized it

yh mother and stepdad deffo tried to destroy all bio dad from OPs life, sis was young so it was worked, but OP was old enough to remember, plus howd sister see the card on dad's grave? she doesn't seem to care enough to visit dad's grave ..

i don’t need to hear anything after the card issue. the sister is the issue.

After a certain point it’s no longer about who op sees as her dad, it’s about respecting boundaries and the sister is purposefully going against op’s boundaries

This is why I view this no contact shit as a new trend. Too many “no contact” situations that are not justified.

Honestly the amount of mums and dads who immediately remarry after their spouses die is so crazy. Especially with young kids. “Sorry your other parent died, anyway I’ve replaced them say hello to their replacement!”

I definitely think OP’s mom and stepdad poisoned the sister’s mind against the Bio Dad to also force OP to accept the Stepdad but it never worked as OP actually remembers her dad

it's ok if she has a different relationship to their stepfather than her older sister. however to chastise her sister and dad's family who remember him, and actively mourn him is so cruel. she can love her stepfather as her father and also realise the position of the rest of her family

there is an age gap where little sis doesn't remember the bio and the older sis does. your allowed to remember your dad. if your grandfather on dad's side is still around then ask grandfather to walk you down the aisle. its your wedding your choice

Maybe mom had an affair with second husband and the 22f is the daughter of the second husband and 29f is daughter of first dad

im going to assume the mother and stepfather were obsessed with him replacing bio dad so hard that op just doesn't care for him and the sister fell for the replacement tactics and was manipulated against the paternal family members.

I don’t think it matters how he died. My mom died from lupus complications, and my little brother, who was also young, is upset with her too. He continues to this day, and now at 42 years old, he still tells anyone willing to listen that she just left them in this world.
