Where did Jesus tell us to pray to his mother and the saints and that they will hear and intercede for us? I believe He taught us to pray to God and God alone. You asking a dead person (Mary and the saints) to pray for you is idolatry

Jesus said He is the way. There is no other way to the Father except through Him. So if we try to communicate with God through someone else, we are doing the exact opposite of what Jesus taught us. He is our connection to God. No one else.

Okay as a catholic myself, I of course respect Mary and I love her. I just don’t understand why we should pray to her when prayer is a form of worship. Also, why should we pray to her when we’re supposed to be having a relationship with God? Prayer strengthens our relationship with him and isn’t it better to just talk with God yourself, rather than to have someone else do it for you? Im not trying to argue, i’m simply confused.

John 14:13-14 “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” This is jesus speaking❤️notice how he doesn’t even make mention the saints, or Mary? He says if ask me anything in MY name I will do it. You don’t need to ask Mary or any saints to pray for you, or anything. They can’t even hear you, No saint can take Jesus’ place: “There is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5). There is no one else who can mediate with God for us. Since Jesus is the only mediator, Mary and the saints cannot be mediators. Further, the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ Himself is interceding for us before the Father: “He is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25). With Jesus Himself interceding for us, why would we need Mary or the saints to intercede for us? Whom would God listen to more readily than His only begotten Son? Romans 8:26–27 says the Holy Spirit is also interceding for us. With the second and third Persons of the Trinity already interceding for us before the Father, why would we need to have Mary or the saints interceding for us?

Jesus honored his mother Mary. So that makes Mary our mother as well if Jesus is God. That’s why we ask for her intercession because she’s the closest to Jesus and the saints and the examples of how to be closest to Jesus ❤
