Dear Christian, speaking in tongues ain't a must and praying in the spirit is not praying in tongues. Tongues is a gift so must everyone have the gift? Even prophecy is a gift but it's not everyone who has it. It is good to desire the gifts from our Father but we mustn't feel less Christian just because we don't do what others are doing. I have a mother who taught me Christ and very powerful with God's things but never prayed in tongues and has more than 3 decades as a believer of Christ. These typa teachings makes people feel less spiritual. Apostle Paul said he wishes that all of us could prophesy not speak in tongues for tongues edify oneself but prophecy edify the church. Again there's no set duration for prayer. People are taking their experiences to doctrine; if you encountered God and He said pray for 8 hours that's good for you but that mustn't be a doctrine or make people feel less spiritual. You can pray for those long hours kanti you're just making noise since your prayer lacks His presence.
