50 years ago this would’ve been true. But today south and north French are the same and look alike. I have been to both places and people looked similar in both regions. They’re heavily mixed with southern Europeans, MENA peoples especially North Africans.

This would only apply to old people. All young people in today’s France are mixed. Even in Brittany and Normandy I know several people who are Sicilian, Moroccan, Algerian, Spanish mixed.
