@caitlynns_booksandbobs: An absolute gem of a movie, world, director, composer, and project! James Horner, rest in peace, worked extensively with director James Cameron to provide a new sound that would create an atmosphere for the world of Pandora. By using new and invented instruments and techniques, such as indigenous instruments or vocalizations, becoming digitalized and altered. He strived to provide a “grounded” soundtrack that didn’t go beyond what the story and visuals were providing for the audience. Instead of something that seemed very alien-like, both him and Jim wanted the music to be a connecting thread throughout the piece. One thing James Horner loves more than anything is working on a love story, seen as a reason why he turned down The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (lack there-of), and thus provided a lovely base for him to explore and show what one’s heart would feel like in such a situation or as an audience member.
