@doctor.bing: If your brain feels tired all the time, you’re not failing — you’re drained. I see this everyday in the clinic. When your nervous system has spent years protecting you by going into shutdown, “trying harder” won’t bring your energy back. Safety will. Small steps will. Consistency will. Be patient with yourself. You’re working with a body that learned to survive in ways you never chose. #Neuroscience #BrainHealth #learnontiktokcontest #EducatorAward #Neuroplasticity
I can’t tell if it’s my adhd and social anxiety or if it’s actual chronic fatigue and stress

Also, repeat Covid infections can also cause chronic fatigue

My husband grew up in a toxic and emotionally unstable home. We met when we were 18 and I noticed right away some issues he was struggling with. He would guard his plate of food, and horde food. He slept A LOT randomly. He was uncomfortable with public displays of affection. Lots more issues. I only noticed because I had grown up in therapy for my own issues. We got married in 2005, ive given him safe harbor for 21 years. Over those years his issues have gone away. He doesn’t live in fight flight, he lives in safety. He is as big as he wants to be, and gives me love and safety in return.

Our bodies know we are in danger. Our whole system is collapsing around us. It would be strange to not be affected by the chaos in our society.

Maybe it’s having to spend like 70% of our lives working to make someone else rich, and spending the rest of your time catching up on mundane tasks you need to do just to stay alive and feel productive in any way. Meanwhile having no time to yourself to actually relax and do your hobbies.

We're now seeing emerging evidence that CFS has a genetic componant. We also know that many people with chronic autonomic issues have underlying physical issues that are hard to identify, cranial instability and vascular elasticity are pretty common here. The vagus nerve is not just some kind of stress indicator, it can be impacted by so many physical issues. If you are unwell, you have every right to seek an investigation into why

idk if you've made a video about this already or not, but what if you experience all the things you just mentioned (unstable upbringing, stuck in "freeze" response, etc) but you also have adhd? but also, is it possible that it's not ADHD, but rather decades worth of uncertainty, an unstable upbringing from infancy all the way through to adulthood, and then 2 more decades of instability and inconsistency in friendships, relationships, and even stable living conditions?

🙏This also makes me think about clutter- and how our environment can chronically keep us feeling like it needs to protect itself from an overstimulating space.

Why is no one talking about the fact that so many ppl are on adhd stims and the nature of those meds eventually lead to chronic fatigue as a result of nervous system distillation from the meds

After long enough, the danger the body perceives is that if you stop holding it together you'll have a breakdown so bad you won't recover. You burn out, but you're still holding your mental health together with threads, and you struggle to recover.

So... how do we treat it? I identified that I've been living in this state but have not found a consistently effective way to get myself out of it. EVERYTHING is a huge effort, even minimal self sustaining care. Hardly anyone talks about this freeze/ conserve energy bc we can't fight or flee state.
