In Japan, people take pride in the collective, which is why the streets stay spotless. In America, the focus is so heavy on being a ‘unique individual’ that basic community stuff gets treated like extra credit.

When I visited Tokyo I was shocked by how clean it was. Even more wild with the fact that public trash cans aren’t really around. So much respect for that beautiful city!
