@basithamzat: When Cost-Cutting Becomes a Death Trap in Construction ☠️ Some workers call it innovation. Engineers call it what it truly is—danger waiting for an opportunity. Bamboo cannot replace steel in a slab, and every shortcut taken today becomes tomorrow’s collapse. Build with knowledge, not with guesses. #construction #concrete #bamboo #building #civilengineering
Bamboo is used in Asian countries for reinforcement and it works perfectly well

Using bamboo strips instead of steel reinforcement in a suspended slab is extremely risky. Bamboo is not ductile, swells, rots, and has unpredictable strength. This approach should ONLY be used for temporary structures, research, or experimental projects, not for any building where people live or work. Safety first!

Bamboo has a season, it has a right time to cut the bamboo from its root. Wrong timing it will rot early.

most of the olden days mud house walls where ,reinforced with bamboo, most of the buildings still stands till now ,but iron will still be d best

You dont use bamboo as reinforcement for buildings. 😳

but i heard that engineers researched onnit and they found out that as cement liqyid seeps into it it hardens becoming stronger than steel with time, just like wood used in filling Venice hardens into rock when salty water seeps in.

It should be ok for few story building. The paradigm is different from RC; concrete became the strengthening and preservation material for bamboo. Bamboo alone being used successfully for building but lack of rigidity and durability. By combining with concrete, it enhance the rigidity and durability of bamboo floor, provided that it is done with the correct ratio.

This is innovation and smart building. If you watch very carefully, you will see that they mixed the materials, Iron Rods for the Beams and secret beam and bamboo for the distribution bars. it's not raw use of bamboo, however, methodology is key
I have a bamboo Coverd in clay usd for ceilings over 50 years and interestingly the bamboo did not rot or decayed because it is not exposed to the weather.

Bamboo can be used as a substitute for steel in some construction applications, particularly in reinforced concrete structures. Bamboo is a strong and flexible material with high compressive and tensile strength. However, there are some limitations and considerations to keep in mind when using bamboo as a steel substitute: - Bamboo's compressive and tensile strength may not be sufficient to support heavy loads. - Bamboo may be more susceptible to moisture and heat. - Using bamboo may require modifications to the structural design. In some cases, bamboo can be used as a steel substitute in light construction applications, such as: - Building small houses - Constructing timber frames - Reinforcing walls and roofs. However, in large and complex construction applications, steel or other stronger and more durable materials are preferable.
