Everyone saying that’s evolution and that in 50 years Messi won’t be rated highly , don’t understand that growth plateaus. Those were the nascent years of international professional football. The game now is as complex as it’s ever going to be, there’ll be minimal improvements, but nothing transcendental.

Cruyff revolutionised football both as a player and a coach, he is the reason we have Messi, Gullit, Van Persie, all these players came about because Cruyff and Ajax changed football forever in the 1970s.
