In the animal kingdom, a mother instinctively knows which of her babies are strong enough to survive. Sometimes, she may reject or even abandon a weak, sick, or malformed newborn. This is one reason we rarely see animals with severe physical defects in nature. We once tried to save a kitten that was born without an anus. It was an incredibly painful decision for us, and to be honest, we were angry and disappointed in ourselves for going against what the mother already knew. The kitten had to undergo weekly procedures just to pass stool, and after five months of suffering, the baby eventually passed away due to severe complications. The mother cat rejected the kitten from the beginning and refused to nurse it. As heartbreaking as it was, she understood what was happening far better than we did. To fellow pet owners: if your cat gives birth, please allow the mother to decide. Nature has its own balance and wisdom. Interfering, even with good intentions, can sometimes cause more pain and prolong suffering. The mother knows. Let us respect the natural cycle. 🙏🏻
