Hi Claire can I ask what symptoms you had apart from the foot drop ? I am having L5 S1 dermatome symptoms and very text book and mri was “clear” , going for an emg to try and find the cause for the radicuopathy symptoms which a real bad. As you say the mri is only part of the story !

When people see an MRI they can panic, but please don’t. I’m sharing mine because it explains my pain, not because yours will look the same. And most people never need surgery. Many disc bulges shrink, settle, or stop irritating the nerve with the right approach. If you’re in this pain right now, you’re not broken. You’re not stuck. I have the same issue. it's killing me.... I can't stand or walk for long before I need to sit down to rest it. or lean forward.

I’m speaking with the surgeon on Monday to go ahead with the op as it’s been 5 months of this pain, injection didn’t work and physio isn’t changing pain levels 😢

I had a triple discoptomy & dbl laminectomy end of may. Sciatica over the past year had out me in a wheelchair,sadly i was in such a bad way i had no choice but too have a triple discoptomy. Sciatica cripples people ,yet it’s only a nerve! Stay strong

I’m in on Thursday for surgery L5S1. I’m normally tough as in my life and it’s broken me as well. Whichever way you have to get that extruding material off the nerve. I’ve done injections and physical therapy now surgery 🤞🤞🤞

Is that image which you show cause drop foot for you it’s look like small disc I have sequestration 3cm that case to me calf weakness I can not walk on tiptoes

I’m so glad I’ve found you. Your spinal MRI looks so so similar to mine, I’ve had L5/S1 disc bulges since 2018 with constant pain in my back and legs. 1 week ago, my foot stopped working, I had tingling, loss of sensation and I cannot move my foot. I just don’t know what to do, I’m so lost and feel I’ve lost my independence overnight
