Genuinely, Yakutian Laikas are a dog i will always tell everyone I can about bc they're everything people want in a husky but more suited to so many more lifestyles 😭 They need more attention and huskies need a little less as a specialty breed behavior-wise, as much as I adore sibes they just arent meant for everyone.

Are your yakuts raised around cats or small animals at all? Or are they too prey driven to live with small animals? Once I’m in my long term/forever home with my partner after his lease ends I’m really hoping to get a dog and I love everything I’ve learned about them from your posts but I’ll always put my kitty first when choosing a breed

My husky is a rescue. So many people get them as puppies because they are so cute but then give them back because they are behaving like typical huskies. Like what did you expect??

are they still bred for mushing/have a drive for pulling? i’ve been trying to figure out what dog I want next for bikejoring/mushing sports after my husky x gsd passes. I’ve heard of this breed before and i’m definitely interested in them!

Difference between my mals and my husky when let out in a 6 acre fenced field. My mals stay with me wanting to work. My husky is immediately off on her own searching the perimeter to try to find holes in the fence. She does have an excellent recall. But that was 2 years of solid training with me as a professional trainer to build it!

How do they get on with other dogs, do they tend to be more dominant, neutral, submissive? I have an Akita who is dog selective and really only gets along with more subservient dogs.

I'd have to do research on them but would definitely love one later. Got a husky, 5 years old soon and likely would be our only one ever, not a normal husky. Unlikely to find a other like her. She's more of a very lazy cat vs a normal husky. 😅🤣
