Tom Hanks requested an actual navy nurse and paramedic and the scene wasn’t going as planned and he told her forget the script act to me like you with any other person in this situation and that’s what she did. I think she was incredible.

The "Captain Phillips nurse" was actually a real-life Navy Corpsman named Danielle Albert who improvised the medical examination scene with Tom Hanks, who played Captain Phillips. The scene was filmed on the actual USS Boxer and the director, Paul Greengrass, told Albert to just follow her usual procedure to make it as authentic as possible. 👍👍

the captain was unable to answer the questions asked by the nurse because it was not in the script.. so he continued acting as usual while being guided by the nurse as if it happened in a real emergency situation. experienced actors and nurses who are great at dealing with anxious situations
