@drjoe_md: Elbow bursitis usually comes from irritation of the small fluid sac that lets your skin glide over the point of your elbow. Most cases are simple inflammation and can be treated at home with rest, ice, compression, and avoiding any pressure on the elbow. But watch the warning signs: redness, warmth, rapid swelling, fever, or pain that gets worse instead of better. Those can point to infection or gout and need to be checked out. If the swelling is mild and not painful, protect the elbow, use a snug sleeve, take short courses of NSAIDs if you can, and let the inflammation calm down. But if the skin gets hot, the pain spikes, or you start feeling sick, that is your cue to get seen and rule out a septic bursitis. #bursitis #jointpain #elbowpain #gout
