McDonald’s isn’t selling billions of burgers a day, it’s about 6–7 billion per year which comes out to roughly 16–19 million a day (6.5 billion ÷ 365 ≈ 17.8 million). One cow can make around 4,300 to 5,000 McDonald’s style burgers. If you take about 90 million cows in the US alone that’s roughly 387–450 billion burgers total, which is around 50–55 burgers per person on Earth when you divide it by the world population of about 8.1 billion. There are also about 1.5 billion cattle worldwide so the supply is way bigger than demand. That’s why we aren’t close to “running out of beef,” each cow turns into thousands of burgers and the total population of cattle is massive globally.
