I have my great grandmas lined, fur coat from the freaking 1800’s and not a single seam is popped on it. I’m lucky it’s been cared for but my husband and I found clothes from when we were in highschool less than a decade ago, had been sitting protected in storage the entire time, and they were disintegrating and falling apart in our hands as soon as we tried to unfold them! Ridiculous. REAL clothes stand the test of time.

I have a cheap black/grey sweater from Forever 21 I bought in 2007ish. Its still my most worn sweater and doesnt look too bad for the age it is. I have two all cotton sweaters from Kmart and they are my other favorites. I hate new clothes. They feels disposable.

Once buying on places like wish, SHEIN & Ali express got normalized; the quality got dramatically worse (when it was already declining) It’s like when they realized people were willing to accept things that poor quality that they should be able to get away with it too.

I’ve been collecting DVDs for years and brand new most DVDs are $20 plus and contain only the movie. My DVDs from early 2000s? $20 got you 2 discs with tons of bonus features, including games!

AGREE 100%. We are now also missing MIDDLE CLASS clothes. You can spend 40 or 400. No seams, no buttons, no patterns in a sweater like what you’re wearing. It all sucks now.

as an avid thrifter, I can tell the quality difference between older and newer garments almost immediately just by feeling them. it's crazy how much the quality has dropped recently.
