@jennifer.lauren.rose: Your amygdala is constantly monitoring your environment for potential threats, even subtle ones. When it detects anything that feels off, your brain shifts into protection mode. Understanding this response helps you regulate faster and support a healthier, more resilient nervous system. #nervoussystemhealing #somatichealing #HealingJourney #selfregulation

I never agreed with people not crying in front of their kids so they can “be strong for the kids.” Isn’t crying normal? Shouldn’t the kids see that adults experience emotion too and that it’s ok?

Thank you!! My mom is a complainer with no plan to self regulate. My dad pretends everything is great. It’s been quite the journey to learn to identify and address vs complain and dismiss. But I am now able to model this for my kids. And limiting contact for them with adults who are unable (or rather unwilling) to build this capacity.

so good! my daughter is 14 and reads energy so well. I've learned this with her early on! I can't lie to her....she already knows and feels safer when I admit and we talk through my solution. Thank you for sharing!

Incongruence! It’s not exactly the example you gave, but I’ve noticed this big time with ptsd. Patients feel time their internal environment is wildly incongruent with their situation and feel isolated for it. It makes sense of those who only feel “okay” in their war-zone, not at home safe.

fascinating comments on the threat of incongruence, and it immediately made me think of its connection to the ethics of honesty x dishonesty.
