I wonder if she wasn’t thinking George was someone who had harmed her in the past and bc of her dementia, she felt she needed to protect herself🥺I can say, I was a Home Health Aide Nurse for 20yrs.Dementia is THE WORST illness I have EVER seen in seniors!

It sounds like she was reliving something traumatic that happened when she was a kid 🥺

She could’ve been taken to geriatric psych for a while until she could be placed in a nursing home or assisted facility instead of this. As a CNA, I’ve seen dementia in its cruelest form. Jail was not the right way to handle this. She already can’t grasp a hold on reality anymore. It’s truly heartbreaking.

This case made local headlines, was very sad situation, the state got the lady out of jail and into a care facility were she truly belongs, her husband did the best he could caring for her until this incident.

She should have been taken to a hospital and never to jail. That was handled so poorly.
Just terrible.

Its sad that she spent 10 days in jail, I wish that adult protective services couldnve got emergency placement in a home for her. It must’ve been so scary in that jail

This was so sad. The officers handled it extremely well and professionally with kindness. If she was my mom, I would be very thankful. dementia and Alzheimer’s are horrible diseases that affect everyone in the family. Bless her heart.

omg. she's reliving an attack as a kid! these officers shouldn't have arrested her. this is what trauma does. it doesnt go away. it lies dormant until someone is old with dementia and can no longer control their thoughts. smh

Such a sad disease. My friends mom got very verbally abusive to her son's. She remembered me but would constantly ask the same questions. It only took about 1 year & she declined so quickly. It's a terrible disease that we should be able to medicate or cure at this point.

I feel so bad for this woman. And especially the husband. I lost my grandmother to dementia (not looking for sympathy) she probably genuinely thought she was defending herself.

It seems like they really enjoy love other and get along well the way they’re joking around when she’s lucid. Such a nice life together and there’s nothing they can do about it…
