@jenniferrosehair: “Maybe you’re born with it!” Nope — we’re not born with Type 1 Diabetes. This isn’t a Maybelline commercial 🫨 Some people can be born with a higher risk, but not the disease itself. After talking with my endocrinologist and doing a ton of research, I learned that most people develop Type 1 after a virus or another immune trigger. Thinking back on my own timeline, I really do think I can pinpoint the year that triggered it for me. My hope is that by sharing my story, I can help even one person in a positive way. If you have any questions, I’m an open book — feel free to ask 🙏🏼💙 #diabetesawareness #t1d #diabetic #fyp #viral
Child of the 80s. Got diabetes right after chicken pox at 8 years old. I got diagnosed with Hashimotos at 44 years old. Also girl….I know this video is old but get the Medtronic instinct sensor. 15 days and so much easier to put on.

My son was diagnosed with T1D last year and his nurse told me they’ve seen such an uptick in T1D since covid. I have Hashimotos and Celiac and his brother also has Celiac so I do think genetics play a part too.

This may sound like a conspiracy theory, but I honestly believe that Covid gave a lot of people different diseases like high, blood pressure, diabetes, etc. cause a lot of people that say they got it. It’s pretty much in the last couple years.

Having 1 autoimmune increases your odds of another. It’s more common than people believe to see people with Hashimotos develop T1 and vice versa. I have Hashimotos and ended up developing T1. I went down a rabbit hole of research.

My daughter was diagnosed last year both hashimotos and type1. I can look back a year of random symptoms but can’t pinpoint what could have triggered it.

Diagnosed at 27 after Covid! My eye doctor is the person who told me the autoimmune response was probably triggered by Covid lol

My son was diagnosed when he was eight years old. My family doesn’t have a history of type one diabetes, but ironically, he was diagnosed after having the flu back to back. That’s what the doctor thinks brought it out.

I so don’t miss the Medtronic sensor change. Medtronic was the one that gave me a fear of needles…

We do have a family history, but my son developed Type 1 at 16 2 months after a bad case of the flu. Endo says he probably had the markers but the flu kicked his pancreas out.

I was definitely building insulin resistance pre-covid but suffered for years with “long covid” symptoms that are probably all Hashimoto’s and LADA T1. Highly suspect COVID caused this for me.
