Why do you not have a lot boy? A person tasked with maintenance of cars on the lot. They check batteries and start the vehicles weekly. Wash them every couple weeks. Hose off the lot. Rearrange the lot. On and on.

first off there is a shipping mode that reduces the battery loss from just sitting. furthermore the vehicles should be started and moved regularly atleast once a month not only for the battery but to prevent getting flat spots on the tires. when I worked at kia, they tracked this and sent you an email saying this stock number has been sitting for x amount of time please start and move the vehicle

Lots of newer vehicles have electronics that slowly drain them without use or running

I was going to say why don't they disconnect the batteries but then you wouldn't be able to open the fucking door it's not like the old cars where you had a key. you know as well as I know 20 years ago the batteries were made Superior compared to now

I new this. that all newer cars need to be started and ran at least every 2 weeks.
the car is communicating with onstar.. or whatever.. listening for the remote. and any number of other 'always on' functions.

A lot of these cars and trucks sit for a lot of time in the storage lots the factories have then sit again at the dealer storage lots before actually hitting the dealer lots , where they once again sit for an extended time not being moved. Really common in the colder climates.

Dealers will send you out with a battery because all manufactures do nit warranty a car till it’s sold / purchased They know you’ll be back. Otherwise the dealer pays and they won’t.

You also have to factor in the fact that the cars sit in the marshalling yards at the auto plant, get loaded onto trains, get shipped to the ports and get unloaded waiting to be trucked off to the lots. Totally understandable.

they don't allow them to charge and they sit and sit... we see that on "warranty claims"... it's crazy how long they sit
