Vet in uk was convincing us we need 600£ teeth removal for my older dog as breath didnt smell great, we were about to ove to portugal and decided to do treatment here as vet will know the dog already in case of any further complications- vet here checked my dog, said he doesnt show any sign of tooth pain, gave us antibiotics for 50 euro (together with the visit) - helped after first dose - nothing more needed as far, dog is happy and healthy

speak out about how boosters and flea treatments are causing seizures in dogs, then put them on expensive vet meds for life.

Sadly I don’t trust vets to give advice that’s best for my animals, but advice that makes them profit. Would love to meet an honest vet like you. My poor dog has seizures and I feel so confused

I have to say Vets Now have been wonderful with my cat. she's having to start chemo and the vet told me to buy them online as it would be cheaper for me than through the vets themselves. breath of fresh air

Could you not find like minded vets and open your own practice and give a big two fingers to the prices they charge you would be inundated with pet owners.

That’s what wrong with the profession today. All went down hill when corporate companies started buying up the independent practices. I wouldn’t go back to private vets now.

vets get the blame constantly its not the vets its big pharmacists. those who they get the medication from. good vets won't charge u extra and will guide u to a cheaper place for the same products

Does this happen if a person asks for their pet to be put to sleep as an owner i knew my cat was at end of his life due to so many reasons and vets just wanted to prolong it for sake of few months and lots of money for them, went to another vets and they agreed with me it was kindest thing to do

I had a vet tell me both of my dogs needed ops on their legs costing 8k. Took them for a second opinion and they said they don't need it. 2 years later their legs are still fine

I almost took my dog to an ooh vets took all my details, £300 for a consultation, I stayed up all night to make sure she was ok (she was, something she’d had before), took her to my vets day after £95 all in. I get it’s ooh but my horse where the vet comes to me £125 ooh fee? Make it make sense 😳

My vet does this ..want to do an ultrasound to checkout a lump which was a Matt of hair.charged £500 to check blood pressure of the cat who only has constipation

I really feel for you. I feel vets n veterinary nurses chose their career for a love of animals and are being turned into an insurance fuelled money making machine. It's immoral. And it's how the NHS will go.

I am lucky our pets go to a small independent vets who are great. However my daughter wants to be a vet nurse and on some recent work experience in a big practice she literally heard a vet saying to proceed with a particular treatment because it was the more expensive option 😢

Doesn't surprise me in the least. I used the same practice for 25 years, after they were taken over, nothing was the same.. but they never actually told anyone there were new owners, I got suspicious after one vet "retired" and looked the practice up on Companies House. Everything was about £££ after the takeover.
