@jessefunstuff: When Jay was first born, I determined for myself that I would never get frustrated or worked up over him crying. Because, when babies cry, they’re just trying to communicate. But, I remember it took conscious effort to remain calm, especially when it felt like hours of nonstop crying (this is rare for Jay btw). Learning this helped: When babies are born, they spend most of the day and night sleeping. After a month or two, they start waking up more and developing more needs. They cry to get help, and at first, its easy to help them, because its usually one of three things. Hunger Diaper Change Burp When babies get a little older, they become more aware of their needs, but still don’t have the words to ask for help. I learned that if I remain calm, and try to find their need, soon enough, I do and Jay is happy again. Kat has done a great job at teaching him sign language and he’s learning new words so we can understand his needs quicker.
