Hey your Dad. I’m an adult diagnosed with T1 too. I started insulin 6 years post diagnosis. My insulin needs are still small.

I start panicking as a reactive hypoglycemic the moment it goes above 130 😭 this was one of my highest readings and it crashed out so bad im since been switched to dexcom and while I like the features and the warmup time and the data it gives me I liked the simplicity of the libre

If he gets on mounjaro or GLP, it should help those spikes .

So heads up, if you see the red blood dot in your phone when you check the sugar it’s not a true reading. You need to wait for that to go away then it’s the real reading!

I've bled before with mine. supposedly it means you hit a capillary or vein...no issue with it, it'll stop. my Dr said it's the best and most accurate readings when that happens. and it's been true for me

My glucose does this same thing but I tested negative for LADA. Normal A1C so the endocrinologist refused to see me. Doctor just said keep wearing the CGM and keep an eye on it. Dunno 🤷🏻♀️

The libre is good but be mindful they do have fake lows like when your sleeping and first put it on but they do work well!

My father in law was told at 50 he was type 2. At 80 he was told he is actually type one.

My dad is the same as your dad. He was taking metformin for awhile. Then stopped. Now he’s finally checking his sugar and giving himself insulin. I want him to get the dexcom or something similar. I wish he could get this so bad.

There is a recall on certain Libres! Look into it just in case 🥰

Make sure to check the accuracy I had one that was not “effect” by the recall but still was off on reading. Libre will replace, also checkout the free sample and discount card

My experience is that if there is bleeding when you apply the sensor, it will show the wrong value.
If you contact Abbott, they should replace it free of charge.
