@thegirlsgroupchatpod: Can I just talk to the GP about my embarrassing ailments, please? 🤭 @shannon mitchell @Diona Doherty @olivia mcveigh @Jordan Arnold
It’s because half the people call for stuff that doesn’t need to be called for

The amount of people who think medical professionals are nosey 😔 generally we’re not, it’s being asked for a reason - if you think your ailment is what gets me through the day you’re very much mistaken 😂 Its also quite a damaging message to perpetuate on a podcast tbh, receptionists are just doing a very basic triage at the request of the drs or the lines would be absolute chaos with any old random getting the emergency appointments.

Doesn't particularly bother me, they will be bound by patient confidentiality anyway, so what does it matter?

Tell the receptionist what's wrong then when you get into see the doctor they ask "What can I do for you " 😂😂

don't be so derogatory to GP staff...it's not helpful if you are influencers to influence others to be derogatory also. people tell reception staff in A&E all the time their issue.....why not tell GP staff.

I'm a receptionist 🤣 we only have to ask the symptoms for emergency appts. the doctors would get on to us if we booked routine symptoms in for emergency , there's certain symptoms that qualify. I'm always nice tho lol

and if they don’t ask that question “are you ok to leave symptoms for the gp?” Then they get in trouble with the gps/practice manager. They can’t win 🙈

I am a GP receptionist, I would certainly hope I'm not a nosey bitch! I'm so disappointed, we work hard in such a busy place. I feel I am so nice to our patients, I always do my best to help. I loved watching this podcast but I'm truly disappointed!

I agree with Jordan on this. I am super lucky as I have a brilliant surgery but they get in crap if they don’t ask and if it’s really personal they also understand it 💓💓

you would be surprised how many people that need a hospital don't ho to the hospital and insist on going GP, then equally the amount that don't need priority or come every week for everything. its more to make sure that if its something that might take longer than the 10 mins appointment time that they can accommodate it or advise that an extended appointmentment would be needed. some things could be assigned to the nurse only and the doctor won't do them or only 1 doc in the clinic does certain things
