@yourmoneymatesarah: 1. The emotional labour tax. Women tend to be the planners, the rememberers, the emotional glue in relationships and families. It’s unpaid work that drains time and energy, which has a financial knock-on effect. 2. The “good girl” tax. The pressure to be polite, not make a fuss, not negotiate too hard, not be “difficult.” This one genuinely costs women pay rises, promotions and confidence with money. 3. The chronic illness tax. Women’s pain is often dismissed, which leads many to self-fund supplements, private tests, therapies or equipment just to function day to day. You know this one personally. 4. The dating tax. Spending more on grooming, outfits, travel and safety checks. Even when we split the bill, we often invest more time, energy and prep. 5. The “buy back time” tax. Because the world isn’t designed around women’s workloads, many women pay for convenience: meal deals, delivery, prepped food, childcare, cleaning. Not because they’re lazy but because they’re doing too much. 6. The pink tax. Products marketed to women still cost more despite being basically identical. Razors, deodorant, simple basics. Same thing, different price tag. 7. The Period Tax. Pads, tampons, pain relief, heat patches, new underwear when things leak. A biological function treated like a luxury. 8. The Presentation Tax. Women are expected to “look professional” in ways men aren’t. Hair, makeup, skincare, rotating outfits so we don’t repeat too often. It’s expensive to be taken seriously. 9. The Safety Tax. Taxis instead of walking. Safer (and more expensive) neighbourhoods. Avoiding certain routes. Adjusting our daily lives just to feel safe. 10. The Motherhood Tax. Time out of work, slower progression, reduced earnings, smaller pensions. It’s a penalty that lasts for decades. What would you add? #feminism #patriarchy #PersonalFinance #genderequality

Heavy on the emotional Labour one. Why do we have to remember and plan every damn thing 😩 and many men claim women aren’t fit for leadership. Like, excuse me?

All of the above. However, we can insist on splitting all the emotional labour in relationships, so let's make sure that we do!
