@dogs.rescue.usa2: It has been one week since we rescued Sweetie and her 4 puppies off the street. They were malnourished, dehydrated on a 92 degree day and have tummies filled with worms but now they’re in our care being nourished back to good health one day at a time. The first week with every new rescue is always the most sentimental, stressful and special for us. It’s our time to let the animal know that they are safe, loved and can trust us. We carefully study their temperament, monitor them even in the wee hours to make sure they’re settling in well. It’s an adjustment not just for our rescues but also for the existing resident and myself. I want to thank all our supports for helping us rescue every animal and also being so patient and understanding when it comes to updates on them. We work long days and don’t always want a camera in our face because the reality is that the rescue is the prettiest part of the process. 😅😂 The rest is picking up poop, cleaning up wounds, vet visits and an insane amount of cleaning and feeding multitudes a day. Don’t even get me started on giving antibiotics. Lol Overall, it always feels special to hold space for the new intakes and truly connect with them instead because our non profit may be a business but they are not another patient and resident at the sanctuary. They become like family as we foster until we find a perfect forever home or they will stay with us forever. ❤️ Have you ever adopted a dog off the street? What was its name? Cat or dog? Share this video with someone who gets it. ♥️ #rescuedog #adoptdontshop
