Many people ask about the strips on the shroud, the ties that bind the body after it has been washed and shrouded. These ties are there for one reason: to hold the shroud securely around the deceased and keep the body together during transportation, prayer, and burial. They are not there to restrain the deceased, nor do they remain tied forever. Once the deceased is placed into the grave, those ties are released. Why? Because the body will naturally expand and return to the earth from which it was created. Even in death, the deceased is treated with dignity, respect, and care. This is one of the beauties of the Islamic funeral. Every step is designed to honour the deceased. From the washing, to the shrouding, to the janazah prayer, to placing them gently into the grave, their rights are protected until the very end. Allah says: “From it We created you, and into it We shall return you, and from it We shall bring you out once again.” (Surah Taha 20:55) As undertakers, we see this every day. The ties are removed, the deceased is laid on their right side facing the Qiblah, and then the family begins the hardest part, placing the first handfuls of dirt upon someone they love. A powerful reminder that one day, the same will happen to every one of us. Dignity in life. Dignity in death. Dignity until we meet our Lord. #TheMuslimUndertaker #viral #fyp #death #trending
