I work at Walmart and we’re not changing prices Willy nilly. The digital labels just streamlined process and cut the labor.

There is a huge problem with organized retail crime. That added to just normal everyday people lying about what they see on the shelves and moving things around costs a lot of money.

I used to do AP for Walmart, our team could easily stop atleast 8 people a day for switching tags.

She is 100% correct. We went to digital tags so thieves and shoplifters can't switch the tags. You say that it can't be that high for theft and shoplifting but in fact, it's a very big problem. At my store, we were almost two million dollars and shrink.Last year because of theft. Keep in mind, my store is at the lower margin of theft.

Not gonna lie just stealing, has gotten very out of hand the amount of people that like to switch tags is crazy I mean they will try to walk out the door paying $19 for about $200 worth of items we had a lady try to leave the building with a $500 basket only paying $100.

You can order it online. If you can get it shipped it’s like free delivery if you have Walmart+. It’s half price around black Friday or if you’re on a gov’t. program.

they didnt make the tags digital due to theft, they took them doen to make some of their processes like proce changes, etc easier.

We had $200,000+ stolen out of just our health and beauty department last year at my store…imagine the entire store. And price changes for over HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of items takes a long time and they do many a day digital makes that easier. Welcome to 2025 where everything is going digital.
