@tiffintech: How did we build the most precise machine in human history… out of atoms that vibrate? Because that is exactly what an atomic clock is. It doesn’t tick and it doesn’t have gears. It literally measures the natural vibration of atoms and somehow that’s the most accurate way to tell time we’ve ever discovered. So here’s the wild part…. Every cesium atom vibrates at the exact same frequency. So scientists said, basically: Alright… when a cesium atom completes this many vibrations, that’s exactly one second. But How do you measure something vibrating billions of times per second… without missing any of it? You use a laser. Engineers tune a laser until it matches the exact vibration frequency of the atom. When the laser and the atom line up perfectly, the atom starts absorbing that light. That resonance becomes your “tick.” Except it’s not a tick. It’s a vibration count so precise that if this clock drifted by even one second… GPS would be off by 300,000 kilometers. And that’s why this matters. #Tech #techexplained #stem
