Part of my purpose on the planet is to make it easier - in any way possible - for those who are already suffering enough. EVEN if that makes those that are a witness to the suffering, extremely uncomfortable or offended. Those that care to self reflect, are going to take this message to heart and challenge their amygdala; And the next time they are in the space of someone who is navigating illness, disability, or death, they will know just what NOT to say. Do I have suggestions for what to say? Yes. It’s not your place to comment or question. So, how about looking someone directly in the eyes and saying, “I’m here.” Presence. “I don’t have words - but I want you to feel held.” Authenticity.
